HORIZON DUO

Together with collaborative pianist Dr. Barbie Noyes, Horizon Duo seeks to explore the programatic and creative possibilities of the contemporary art song recital. Horizon Duo’s repertoire focuses on art song within a broad time range; including composers such as Brahms, Schubert, Debussy, George Crumb, Jake Heggie, Libby Larsen, Annika Sokolovsky, and George Lynn.

Spiral Songs

Claire McCahan and her sister, Landscape Architect Molly McCahan, grew up in Plymouth, NH exploring the streams, lakes, and forests of the Pemi-Baker Valley.  Spiral Songs comes from their shared desire to use music and mindfulness to honor and balance the constant changing of the seasons and cultivate connections to the landscapes that shape us.

Fuse Collaboration in Song

Catalyst New Music is joining forces with Boston Singers' Resource to bring you FUSE: Collaborations in Song, a uniquely collaborative song-development process between singer, composer, and poet that will result in the creation of amazing new songs that are tailor-made for the singers who will give their world-premiere performance!

The final recital will be on February 11, 2023 in Pickman Hall at the Longy School of Music.

Mirror State

Mirror State is a practice-research collaboration between four distinct disciplines: science, vocal performance, new music composition, and moving image. Traveling with notebooks, cameras, and recording equipment, four NeST fellows embarked on a trip in 2019 to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Northern Utah to explore ideas of perception, material, sensation, and time.

This exhibition is available until summer 2022

Colorado Lullaby Project - Teaching Artist

Singing is a source of comfort and joy to me, as well as my gateway to free expression and connection. Growing up, my parents were always sharing songs with my sister and me, and it made us feel close to them. It has been extremely rewarding to help others cultivate a personal voice to be able to share that same joy with their children and loved ones.

Originating in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, The Lullaby Project pairs pregnant women and new mothers and fathers with professional artists to write and sing personal lullabies for their babies, supporting maternal health, aiding child development, and strengthening the bond between parent and child.
